Spark™ Clear Aligners in Brighton and Hove

Spark™ is a next-generation clear aligner system designed to move your teeth into a straighter, healthier position — without the metalwork. Engineered from Ormco’s advanced TruGEN™ polymer, Spark aligners are designed to be clearer, more comfortable, and more stain-resistant than many other clear aligner systems on the market.

If you’ve put off straightening your teeth because you didn’t want to live with visible braces, House of Dentistry can offer you a discreet, precision-engineered alternative with Spark™.

Why choose Spark™ aligners?

Spark™ was developed by Ormco — a name that’s been part of orthodontic practice for decades. That clinical heritage sits behind every aligner we fit, from the polished, scalloped trimline that follows the natural contour of your gumline, to the clarity of the aligner material itself, which is designed to resist the yellowing and discolouration that can affect other clear aligner brands over a week of wear.

Spark™ aligners are fully removable, so you can take them out to eat, to drink anything other than water, and to brush and floss as normal. There are no brackets to work around and no wires to adjust — just a new aligner every one to two weeks, each one gently guiding your teeth towards their final position.

Before we begin, we’ll carry out a full oral health assessment. If there’s anything we’d like to address first — a filling, a hygiene appointment, or a small chip that would benefit from composite bonding — we’ll build that into your plan before your aligners arrive.

We use a digital intraoral scanner to capture a precise 3D model of your teeth, so there are no impression trays and no goop. That scan feeds into Spark Approver™ software, where your dentist maps out your treatment movement by movement and shows you a simulation of your final smile before you commit to treatment.

Every Spark™ plan is bespoke to your teeth, your bite, and your goals — and we’ll review your progress at each stage to make sure treatment is tracking the way we’ve planned.

FAQs

How long will Spark™ treatment take?

Treatment length depends on how much movement your teeth need. Straightforward cases can be completed in as little as six months; more complex cases may take eighteen months or more. Wearing your aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day is the single biggest factor in keeping your treatment on track.

How does treatment begin?

Your first step is a consultation at House of Dentistry, where we’ll carry out a comprehensive oral examination, take radiographs and clinical photographs, and scan your teeth with our intraoral scanner. From that data, we build your personalised Spark™ plan and show you a simulation of your new smile before any aligners are made.

How do Spark™ aligners work?

You’ll be given a series of custom-made aligners, each one shaped slightly differently to the last. You wear each aligner for around one to two weeks before swapping to the next in the series. The polished trimline sits flush against your gumline, which many patients find more comfortable than the straight-cut edges on some other aligner brands.

Can I take my Spark™ aligners out when I need to?

Yes. Spark™ aligners are fully removable, which is one of the reasons people choose them over fixed braces. You can take them out for meals, for brushing and flossing, and for the occasions where you’d rather not wear them — a wedding, a presentation, a match, a performance. The trade-off is that your teeth only move when the aligners are in, so we’ll ask you to aim for 20 to 22 hours of wear a day.

Will it hurt?

Most people describe a feeling of pressure rather than pain, particularly in the first day or two after switching to a new aligner. Any discomfort usually settles within 48 hours. The polished edges on Spark™ aligners are designed to reduce the irritation that sharper-cut trimlines can cause against your cheeks and gums.

Who is Spark™ suitable for?

Spark™ can treat a wide range of orthodontic issues in adults and older teenagers — from mild crowding and spacing through to more complex bite corrections. The only way to know for certain is a clinical assessment, and we’ll always give you an honest answer about whether Spark™ is the right fit for you, or whether another treatment option would serve you better.

What happens when my treatment has finished?

Teeth have a natural tendency to drift back towards their original position once active treatment ends, which is why we recommend a retainer for anyone who has completed clear aligner therapy. Every case is different — we’ll talk you through the retainer options and help you choose the one that best suits your bite and your lifestyle.
